USDT ERC-20 at casinos: minimums, gas and the choice between ERC-20, TRC-20 and Solana
The networks
USDT is the same coin on many networks, but moving it does not cost the same on all of them. At Vave the minimum USDT deposit runs from 3 to 19.99 depending on the network. Here is how to choose, and why the ticker in the cashier matters more than the logo.
USDT ERC-20 is the commonest way to hold digital dollars on the Ethereum network, and it is also the dearest to move. For anyone playing at crypto casinos it is the middle coin: none of the swings that come with ETH, a balance that stays in dollars, and the option of depositing from the same wallet where the ETH sits. The weak point never changes: the network. USDT lives on at least five different networks, and every casino takes some of them.
Same coin, different networks
- ERC-20: USDT on the Ethereum network, 0x addresses.
- TRC-20: USDT on Tron, addresses beginning with T.
- BEP-20: USDT on BNB Smart Chain, 0x addresses here as well.
- Solana: long base58 addresses, no 0x.
- Polygon, Arbitrum, Base: Ethereum-compatible networks, 0x addresses.
The most concrete danger sits between ERC-20 and BEP-20, or between ERC-20 and Polygon: the addresses look identical, and the wallet will not stop you. The minimums per network: the Vave example
The table in Vave’s help centre, updated on 18 September 2023, lines the deposit minimums up:

Four times as much on Ethereum as on Tron. The table gives no reason; as a rule the minimum follows the cost of the network, and Ethereum is the dearest of the three. Rocketpot points the same way: 1 USDT on Tron, 5 on Ethereum. The withdrawal minimum, on the other hand, is the same for both networks, 25 USDT.
What the casinos we read accept
- Vave: USDT on ERC-20, TRC-20 and Solana.
- Wild.io: USDT on ERC-20, TRC-20 and BEP-20; USDC on ERC-20. Minimum 5 for both.
- Shuffle: USDT on ERC-20, BEP-20, TRC-20, Polygon and Solana; USDC on ERC-20, BEP-20, Solana, Polygon, Base and Arbitrum.
- Rocketpot: USDT on ERC-20 and TRC-20; USDC on ERC-20.
The other casinos in our ranking of Ethereum casinos put USDT or USDC in the cashier, but we could not read which networks they run over. You find that under the deposit address, once you have picked the coin.
ETH or USDT to play with?
With ETH the balance swings even while you are not playing: a session that broke even in ETH can be a loss or a gain in euros the next day. With USDT the balance stays in dollars, so what you see is what you played. For anyone who wants the risk of the game kept apart from the risk of the market, USDT is the cleaner choice. For anyone who already holds ETH and would rather not convert it, ETH saves a step and the cost that comes with it.
One note on gas: even when you deposit USDT on ERC-20, you pay the gas in ETH. A wallet holding USDT and no ETH cannot send anything on the Ethereum network. The gas arithmetic is in gas and fees.
The right contract
On every network there is one official USDT, identified by its contract address. Tokens can appear in a wallet with the same name and a different contract. If you receive a “USDT” token you did not buy, do not move it and do not connect the wallet to sites promising to “redeem” it. Shuffle publishes the USDC contract on Arbitrum that it accepts: that is the right habit, and it is worth doing the same check at any casino before the first send.
Before the first USDT deposit
- In the cashier pick USDT and then the network: read the ticker, not just the logo.
- In the wallet select that same network.
- Check that you hold the network’s gas (ETH on Ethereum, TRX on Tron).
- Send an amount above the minimum for the network you chose.
